By Andrew Yates, Candidate for Osage Minerals Council

I am honored to announce my candidacy for the Osage Minerals Council. I am the great grand son of Henry & Hope Coshehe, grandson of John & Josephine Coshehe and the son of Paul & Eva Mae Coshehe Yates. I am of the Beaver Band and the Sun Carrier clan from the Wa-Xa-Ko-Li District. My family participates in the June dances each year and I have served on past In-Lo-Sh-Ka commitees. I graduated from St. Gregorys College in Shawnee, Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma. I currently own and operate a small ranch south of Pawhuska, Oklahoma on restricted Indian property, with my wife of 12 years, Shelly and my two young daughters Annabelle Eva and Josephine Mae Yates. My oldest daughter Jennifer Kathleen Yates attends college in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

I am an Osage Mineral shareholder and currently serve on the Evergreen Rural Water Board District # 18. I also have gas mineral interests outside of Osage County.

For 25 years, I have worked in the Osage Nation Environmental & Natural Resources Department’s Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program. My job is to oversee oil and gas industry Class II salt water injection wells on the Osage Reservation. I have worked closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency during my 25 years in the UIC program. I am knowledgeable with oil and gas activities and environmental issues that affect the Osage Reservation. In addition, I am very familiar with the operations of the Osage Minerals Council and the issues that face the mineral estate and the shareholders.

I believe that my cultural background and my professional career prepare me to represent the Osage shareholders as an Osage Minerals Councilman. I am confident that my cultural appreciation and technical experience will guide me in deciding questions before the Council. My goal in making these decisions will be to maximize production on the Reservation while protecting the shareholder’s assets for future generations. I look forward to meeting and visiting with you in the near future. In the meantime, please contact me at (918) 846-2344 or email me at andrewyates@live.com if you have questions.
