The Hominy Bucks lost their first football game of the season against the Cleveland Tigers on Aug. 30.
“We didn’t tackle very well in the open field and Cleveland did a good job of tackling our weaknesses,” said Hominy Coach Scott Harmon.
The Tigers did not waste any time during the first quarter as they took the lead, 21-0.
The Tigers continued to dominate and by halftime the score was 41-0.
“The first half of the game didn’t turn out the way we expected,” said Anthony Kemble, Osage, Hominy football player.
The Bucks scored a touchdown at the start of the third quarter, 41-6.
“We made some adjustments during halftime and the players did a good job in the second half of the game,” Harmon said.
The Tigers score their last touchdown of the night at the beginning of the fourth quarter, 48-6.
With five minutes to go in the fourth quarter Kemble scored a touchdown, 48-14.
Seconds later, Kemble recovered a fumble, which led to the Bucks scoring a third touchdown, 48-22.
“Kemble does a good job for us and we are hoping he continues to work hard,” Harmon said.
The Hominy crowd was cheering strong during the fourth quarter and yelling, “Get a rat.”
With two minutes left in the game Blake Bohner, Osage, scored a 33-yard touchdown.
“We fought as hard as we could to get as many points to at least try to tie the game,” Kemble said. “But overall, even though we loss we finished our game with more improvement and I’m proud to say it was an awesome game.”
The final score was 48-28, Cleveland.
