Osage Nation Principal Chief John Red Eagle will give his annual State of the Nation address March 8 at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center at 10 a.m. The speech will be live streamed on the Nation’s website,www.osagetribe.com.
Chief Red Eagle’s speech will touch on accomplishments his administration made in the past year, as well as goals for the upcoming year. In last year’s speech Chief Red Eagle said his administration was making strides in improving the Nation’s internal operations and that they were on the threshold for increasing opportunities and benefits to all Osages.
His speech will begin the festivities planned in celebration of Osage Nation Sovereignty Day. The Sovereignty Day celebration will be held on March 9 at the Osage County Fairgrounds. Gourd dancing begins at 1 p.m., dinner at 5 p.m., gourd dancing again at 6 p.m. and the parade-in begins at 7 p.m. Dance contests and intertribal dancing will finish out the evening.
The Nation’s tribal offices will be closed March 11 in observance of Osage Sovereignty Day.
