Potential candidates for the offices of Osage Nation Principal Chief and Assistant Principal Chief have one more day to ponder.
The Nation’s policy for inclement weather has shut down the operations of the Osage Nation Election Office today, which was supposed to be the last day for chief candidates to file their candidacies.
According to the election office’s Facebook page: “Offices are closed due to inclement weather on Monday, January 6th. Filing for Candidacy will now close at 4:30 pm on January 7th.”
So far, three candidates have filed for chief and one candidate for assistant chief. Those filed for chief are Geoffrey Standing Bear, Margo Gray, current Chief John Red Eagle and Tom Boone. For assistant chief is Raymond Red Corn.
All candidates will face off for the Primary Election, March 10. The Osage News has a debate scheduled for the chief and assistant chief candidates Feb. 1, from 5-7 p.m.
