I am Douglas Cowan (WAH-To-Lm-NAH-ZHI) and am honored to announce my candidacy for the Osage Nation Congress. I am the son of Frances Kilpatrick (Whitehorn) and the grandson of the late Sam and Hattie Whitehorn, I am a member of the Deer Clan. I was born, raised and still reside in Hominy, OK. I am a 1973 graduate of Hominy High School and attended Oklahoma State University. I have a very strong back ground in the oilfield industry. I have lived and worked over 40 years in different areas of the oilfield. I started as a rig hand to completion Engineer and pipe liner and back to sales field supervisor for a completion company. Currently now I am a partner to an oilfield acidizing company Tomahawk Acid Services L.L.C., in Hominy, OK working with producers in Osage and surrounding counties.
As an Osage I know there are better ways to help our fellow Osage people young and old. I am dedicated to increase debit card benefits, focusing on the elderly and handicap members. I feel like our children need more in their educational opportunities even at the elementary level. I am in support of audits to control and monitor the Osage LLC. To look at all aspects to where we can regain our losses or abolish it and focus on different investment. I will work towards more open book policy for the Osage gaming enterprise and their employees. I would like to see that we are in control of more decisions that are being made at gaming enterprises. I am a strong believer that our Unity as a tribe needs to grow stronger and with unity we can be a stronger nation!!!
I ask for your vote on June 2, 2014. Feel free to contact me with concerns or suggestions. 918-287-7785. or DMCowan@windstream.net.
