2014 Tzi-Zho Session Day 2

2014 TZI-ZHO SESSION DAY TWO: The Fourth Osage Nation Congress passed its first legislative bill during the second day of the Tzi-Zho Session, which establishes six Executive Branch divisions.

ONCA 14-57 (sponsored by Congressional Speaker Maria Whitehorn) passed with an 11-1 vote on Sept. 3 and Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear signed the bill into law the same day. Voting “no” was Congressman William “Kugee” Supernaw.

According to the bill the following six divisions are established within the ON Executive Branch and amends ONCA 14-47, which was passed during a previous special session.

- Division of Child, Family and Senior Community Services

- Division of Culture Preservation, Arts, Heritage and Language

- Division of Education and Early Learning

- Division of Health, Fitness and Wellness

- Division of Government Operations

- Division of Land, Commerce and Public Safety

The original bill ONCA 14-47 passed in the Aug. 1 special session establishing five divisions, but the bill is amended following more feedback from the Executive Branch regarding the division organization.

Day four of the Tzi-Zho Session starts at 10 a.m. Friday Sept. 5.
