Storm shelters are available for those Osages living in Oklahoma, Cleveland, Canadian, Potawatomie, Lincoln and McClain counties. The program, operated by the Osage Nation Emergency Management, is a $27,500 grant from the Red Cross. The grant is providing for 11 storm shelters for tribal members who meet certain criteria.
Deadline for applications is Sept. 30.
The program was originally offered to only those Osages living within the Moore area, but after there were no applications sent in ONEM director Bobby Tallchief called the Red Cross and they agreed to extend the coverage area.
Applicants must own or be purchasing a home, can verify storm damage from the May 2013 tornado, and don’t currently have a storm shelter. For those families selected, they will receive a $2,500 stipend.
Call the ONEM for further details at (918) 287-5225 or email Tallchief at email@example.com.
