The Osage Nation Foundation’s featured Christmas ornament this year is an Osage woman’s brooch now on sale through the Foundation’s online gift store.
The woman’s brooch ornament costs $20 each and is available for order online at www.osagefoundation.org. Ornaments ordered this month will ship by Dec. 1, according to the Foundation.
Made with 24-karat gold like the previous ornaments, the 2015 brooch ornament is the fourth in a yearly series launched by the Foundation starting with 2012. Those interested may also buy a $70 ornament package online to collect all four ornaments. Past ornaments include an Osage baby cradleboard, a drum and the Osage Nation seal.
The Foundation is also selling other items online including hats, cups and a Pendleton blanket all bearing the Nation’s seal emblem. DVD copies of Wahzhazhe: An Osage Ballet are also available from the Foundation online gift store.
Proceeds from the ornament and other gift shop sales will support the Foundation’s activities, which include the annual summer youth camps that offer a variety of education and sports activities for children.
According to its website, the Foundation’s mission statement is: “The mission of the Osage Nation Foundation is to promote and enhance the general welfare of the people of the Osage Nation by supporting cultural, educational, health, historical, community and other appropriate activities and programs.”
The Foundation also offers arts matching grants and charitable grants. For more information on the foundation and its programs, visit its website or contact Foundation Executive Director Bill Webb at email@example.com.
