More bills and resolutions filed for consideration during Hun-Kah Congressional Session

As the 2018 Osage Nation Congressional Hun-Kah Session continues, more bills and resolutions will be considered for action as the Congress meets during the 24-day duration.

Other bills and resolutions now on file include:

ONCA 18-09 (sponsored by Congressional Speaker Angela Pratt): A bill requesting a $281,780 supplemental appropriation for the Nation’s Primary Residential Treatment facilities also referred to as the Willow Tree Residential Treatment Centers. The requested funding (from the Nation’s general treasury) would go toward treatment operations and staffing needs for the facilities that serve men and women seeking treatment for substance/ alcohol abuse.

ONCA 18-10 (Congresswoman Shannon Edwards): A bill to authorize the Principal Chief to issue limited waivers of sovereign immunity under specific circumstances. If passed, the bill allows the Principal Chief to grant limited waivers of sovereign immunity from suit and consent to be sued in tribal court or other competent court jurisdictions should a dispute arise from contracts/ agreements with outside entities.

Conditions noted in the bill include: Any such waiver or consent to suit shall only be granted to the U.S. government, the state of Oklahoma or a federal/ state government agency; the waiver must be in writing and in a form approved by the ON Attorney General; and any waiver issued by the Principal Chief shall not exceed five years.

ONCR 18-03 (Maria Whitehorn): A resolution to designate ON Energy Services LLC (ONES) as a subsidiary LLC of Tallgrass Economic Development LLC, pursuant to the Nation’s LLC Act, as the sole member of both entities.

ONCR 18-04 (Whitehorn): A resolution to designate Osage LLC as a subsidiary LLC of Tallgrass Economic Development LLC, pursuant to the Nation’s LLC Act, as the sole member of both entities.

ONCR 18-05 (Congressman RJ Walker): A resolution to consent to the conveyance of a real property tract in Hominy currently held in the name of the Osage Nation and within the Nation’s housing stock.

ONCR 18-06 (Walker): A resolution to consent to the conveyance of two pieces of real property currently in the ON Housing Department to their respective homebuyers who fulfilled their contractual requirement for homeownership in the housing program.
