The Osage Nation was awarded $199,973 for a water system assessment project from the Bureau of Reclamation’s Native American Affairs Technical Assistance to Tribes Program in August.
The program awarded $3.4 million to 19 tribes for technical assistance in water development. The tribes will share in the money as they develop, manage and protect their water and related resources, according to a press release.
"This funding provides the opportunity for Reclamation and the tribes to collaborate in finding the most effective and efficient ways to improve water reliability for these tribal communities," said Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman in the release.
The funding will be provided to the tribes as grants or cooperative agreements.
