The deadline to apply for the Osage Nation Health Benefit program for the 2021 calendar year is midnight on Dec. 15 for all Osages wanting to enroll or re-enroll.
Health benefits include:
- $500 health benefit card for Osages ages 64 and younger.
- $1,000 health benefit card for Osages age 65 years and older.
The Seventh ON Congress passed an amendment to the Health Benefit Act (ONCA 20-79 sponsored by Congresswoman Jodie Revard) during the 2020 Tzi-Zho Session establishing the annual enrollment period starting Oct. 1 and ending Dec. 15 for all Osages to enroll or reenroll in the health benefit plans for the next calendar year.
- Osage elders participating in the Medicare Plan F/Part D program will not be eligible for the health benefit card. Members can only participate in one benefit or the other.
“If you were enrolled during 2020 and have a card, once your application is approved, the 2021 amount will be placed on your card on January 1, 2021,” according to the Nation’s website. “As with 2020, RT Consulting is administering all 2021 health benefit card reimbursement requests. Healthcare-related receipts should be submitted to (third-party administrator) RT Consulting for processing.”
Also, during the 2020 Tzi-Zho Session, the Congress passed ONCA 20-83 (sponsored by Congresswoman Paula Stabler) which is an act amending the Health Benefit Act “to prohibit the accrual of unused health benefits,” which ceases the rollover of unused health benefit funds from one year to the next. Stabler said she filed the bill as an effort to manage the increased spending associated with the health benefit programs available to all enrolled Osages.
According to the Nation: As of January 2021, future funds will not roll over, however, the funds from 2019 and 2020 will be allowed for use in the following manner:
2021 – you can spend 2021 funds and any 2020 and 2019 rollover amounts, if available.
2022 – you can spend 2022 funds and any 2020 rollover amounts, if available.
2023 – you can only spend 2023 funds.
