Congress confirms 11 individuals for boards, commission service

The Seventh Osage Nation Congress voted to confirm 11 Osage individuals to serve on various boards and commissions.

During the 2021 Tzi-Zho Session, the following individuals received confirmation votes for their respective board and commission posts:

Frank Freeman is confirmed to serve another term on the Osage LLC Board. His confirmation vote was 10-2. Voting “yes” were Congress members Alice Goodfox, Billy Keene, Brandy Lemon, John Maker, Second Speaker Jodie Revard, Pam Shaw, Paula Stabler, RJ Walker, Scott BigHorse and Congressional Speaker Angela Pratt. “No” votes came from Eli Potts and Joe Tillman.

Gary Weyl is confirmed to serve another term on the Gaming Commission Board. He received a unanimous 12-0 confirmation vote.

Geoff Hager is confirmed to serve his first term on the Gaming Enterprise Board. He received a unanimous 12-0 vote.

Carol Kliesen is confirmed to serve another term on the Grayhorse Village Committee. She received a unanimous 12-0 vote.

Timothy Shadlow is confirmed to serve his first term on the Health Authority Board. He received a 12-0 vote.

Haley Kramer is also confirmed to serve her first term on the Health Authority Board. She received a 12-0 vote.

Cecelia Tallchief was confirmed to serve another term on the Health Authority Board. Lemon, who is Tallchief’s daughter, said she is abstaining from voting and discussing Tallchief’s confirmation. Tallchief’s confirmation passed with a 7-4 vote with “no” votes coming from Stabler, Tillman, Walker and Potts.

Anita Fields is confirmed to serve another term as an alternate board member for the Wahzhazhe Elections Board. The Nation’s election code calls for a three-member board with two alternate members who serve in the event a sitting board member must recuse his/herself due to a conflict in carrying out election duties. Fields received a 12-0 confirmation vote.

Galen Crum is confirmed to serve another term on the Nation’s Ranch Board. Crum is confirmed with an 11-1 vote with Potts voting “no.”

Hank Hainzinger is also confirmed to serve another term on the Ranch Board. His confirmation vote was also 11-1 with Potts voting “no.”

Chuck Hessert is confirmed for another term on the Osage Nation Environmental Solutions (ONES) LLC board. His confirmation vote was also 11-1 with Potts voting “no.”

Each board and commission member will serve a three-year term once confirmed. However, according to an Oct. 27 opinion from ON Attorney General Clint Patterson, both boards for ONES and the Osage Nation Ranch board were legally restructured as subsidiaries of the parent company Osage LLC upon filing new articles of organization with the Secretary of the Nation and are non-existent. Crum, Hainzinger and Hessert will stay on in advisory roles to the Osage LLC board of directors.
