By Brooklin Sweezy
Hello Osages Tribal Members,
I would like to announce my decision to file candidacy for the 9th Osage Nation Congress. My name is Brooklin Sweezy, my maiden name is Dailey. I lived on the reservation as a child and moved to Stillwater. I am married to Roderick Sweezy Jr. we have three children, Jalen, Scarlett, and Winter. We live a traditional way of life and instill our teachings to our children. I am from the Osage, Logan and Dailey families of the GrayHorse district. My great grandparents were Effie Logan and Joe Osage.
I have obtained my Bachelor’s in American Indian Studies from Bacone College and I have a Masters in Legal Studies from the Indigenous Law program at the University of Oklahoma.
I have knowledge in tribal sovereignty, natural resources and water law. I also have experience in extensive legal research and writing. I have knowledge of the trust relationship and am willing to protect the rights of our government.
I am willing to uphold the O.N. Constitutional rights and want to work for all Osage people on and off the reservation. I am promoting more funding into our educational programs as well as preserve our cultural teachings and traditions by promoting more cultural classes and funding into our language department.
I am part of the younger generation that our elders have talked about and have had the hopes that we would carry on what they started. I have dedicated my educational journey to do that, and I fully comprehend our tribal government, laws and legal statutes. If elected, I would like to learn and listen from the ones before me with the goal to carry on the same wishes we have for all our people.
We are Osage Strong! I am endorsing Unity, Harmony and Balance within our Tribe.
I appreciate your support, thank you all.
