Election Day voting underway at Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center

Voting is underway at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center in the 2016 Osage Nation General Election until 8 p.m.

The Cultural Center is located at 1449 W. Main in Pawhuska. Once the poll closes, the counting process will begin and the ON Election Office will announce the results as soon as possible.

For the two early voting days, a total of 143 Osages voted at the Election Office on June 3-4.

According to the Election Office, 60 Osages voted on June 3 and 83 on June 4. Voters came from various locations near or far, including Pawhuska, Oklahoma City area and as far away as Pennsylvania, the Election Office said.

As of Saturday June 4, the Election Office reported 949 absentee ballots were mailed back to the Pawhuska Post Office. Those absentee ballots, along with those arriving this morning will be retrieved from the post office at 10 a.m. by the Election Board and office staff.

The absentee ballots will then be transported – with an ON police escort – to the Cultural Center for processing with the in-person voting ballots.
