The spring 2016 gathering for the United Osages of Southern California is set for April 23 in Carlsbad.
The event will be held at the Carlsbad Senior Center located at 799 Pine Ave.
UOSC co-organizer Gregory Clavier announced the gathering date in an email and said the meeting will feature an Osage Nation Congressional candidates’ forum. The 2016 general election will be held in June and six seats on the 12-member Congress will be up for grabs.
“I apologize for not corresponding with you all for such a long time. I’m sure by now you all must realize we did not have a fall meeting. We were unable to coordinate a fall event. However the date for the United Osages of Southern California Spring meeting has been set… Being that 2016 is an election year for the Osage Nation Congress, we will be inviting all candidates to join us for a candidates forum,” Clavier said in the email.
Through the years, UOSC meetings have provided opportunities for West Coast area Osages to network with each other and to connect with Oklahoma Osages who attend the meetings as candidates running for office; who are presenting or providing ON government services; visiting California relatives; or to learn about Osage art and culture from seasoned instructors providing the lectures and workshops at the meetings.
