Funeral scheduled Sept. 26 for Charles Hurlburt, a longtime BIA employee

Funeral services for Charles Hurlburt, a longtime Bureau of Indian Affairs – Osage Agency employee, are scheduled for Saturday Sept. 26 in south Tulsa.

The memorial service starts at 10 a.m. at the Fitzgerald Southwood Chapel Family Center located at 3612 E. 91st St. S.

Hurlburt, 58, passed away on Sept. 22 in Tulsa. He was born on Jan. 6, 1957, according to his online obituary and was also nicknamed “Skip,” which he went by on his Facebook profile as Skip Hurlburt.

Hurlburt graduated from the University of Tulsa and spent 32 years working for the BIA’s Osage Agency in Pawhuska until retiring recently. Hurlburt worked as a supervisory petroleum engineer and his former coworkers say he was extremely knowledgeable regarding Osage Agency-BIA history and he loved working with the Osage people and the oil producers.
