I, Dr. James (Jim) Trumbly, am formally announcing my candidacy for the 7th Osage Nation Congress.
I am a direct descendant of Pa Hu Ska as well as Julian Trumbly and Eliza Ann Tinker. My grandfather was Oliver Trumbly (Ponca City) and his father is William Dale Trumbly a WW II Bronze Star and 2 purple hearts recipient.
I am the Sr. Vice Commander for The American Legion Post 198 Pawhuska. I served during the Vietnam War in the Army. I repaired all the coding and decoding equipment. After leaving the Army I spent several years in the Oil Business.
I hold a doctorate in Business Administration. I attended the University of Oklahoma for my BBA in Management, and Texas A&M for a Master’s in Business Computing Sciences. My Doctorate in Business Administration is from Mississippi State University.
I have served on the faculty of the University of Oklahoma, University of Texas at El Paso, and currently I am an adjunct faculty member at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Bacone College and Pawnee Nation College. I have been working in the IT / Technology field since 1980. Also, I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
I worked in the private sector as a consultant and software designer. I traveled to Afghanistan in 2010 as a government defense contractor. I have written over 30 refereed journal articles and conference proceedings. I also hold a patent for the development of “Business Level Metrics for Information Technology”
I am a NRA Certified Instructor and Training Counselor for Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun and Muzzle loading. I am an Eagle Scout, a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow and have worked with Scouts for 15 years as a Volunteer.
Once I moved to Pawhuska, I quickly got involved in special projects for the Osage Nation. Chief Standing Bear asked me to assist on the Broadband project. This was a natural choice, due to my extensive background in the US Telecommunication Industry, having been the Chief Technology Officer for the US Telecom Industry group for EDS. Once that project was stalled because of the ABB (American Burying Beetle), Chief Standing Bear asked me to project manage Bird Creek Farm. I have worked and implemented several actions that has put Bird Creek Farm (now Eco Park and Farm) on the path to becoming profitable for the first time. The farm is growing produce that will be purchased by our Casinos including Hops for Nine Band Brewery. I am working on completing the USDA application that will allow the Osage Nation to enter into and regulate our own Hemp industry, both farming and perhaps processing. In fact, 120 acres of land outside of Fairfax has been set aside for growing Hemp.
I moved to Pawhuska, for two purposes 1) To assimilate and learn the Osage Culture through immersion and 2) to give back to the Native Community – specifically to serve the Osage People.
