Jodie K. Revard: Candidate statement for 2024 Osage Nation Congressional Election

Candidate statements and announcements are a free submission offered to candidates of the 2024 Osage Nation Congressional Election.

By Jodie K. Revard

I am Jodie K. Revard, and I’m seeking re-election to serve a second term as one of your congress members.

My parents are Robert Fitch Revard and Angie Coshehe Revard, both Osage. Maternal great-grandparents are Henry and Hope Coshehe, both original allottees.  Maternal grandparents are John, original allottee, and Josephine Tomey Coshehe (Potawatomie). Paternal great-grandparents are Franklyn, original allottee and Romanzy Revard. Paternal grandparents are Mark, original allottee and Luella Revard.

I graduated from Pawhuska High, later obtained a certificate from Tri-County Technical Center, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango.

My careers outside of the nation include banking, accounting, data collection, retail, non-profit, and small business owner. I have 23 years of service with the Osage Nation. Eight of those years, I served a four-year term as an elected official with the Minerals Council and another four-year term in congress. I’ve worked within different departments in our government and have experience as a board member.

As a shareholder and restricted landowner, I have experience with revocable trusts, probate, property taxes, partitioning land, surveying, leasing, utility easements, and appraisals.

I have found that this job is the most effective when branches work together. Not one bill or resolution that I’ve filed could have been enacted without the support of my colleagues and the signature of the Chief. Although my vote is singular, my work is intentionally collaborated. The following is a selection of legislation that I hold in high regard.

The Primary Residential Treatment Facility

This multi-use facility was funded with ARPA dollars and the cost to operate will be paid for using third-party revenue. Also, the land base increased by purchasing 315 acres for this project.

The Visitor Center

Very proud to support this initiative from phase one. This project enhances our Osage economy as we venture into tourism while at the same time promoting our Osage artists and business owners.

Restricted Land Improvement Program

The intent of this legislation was to provide for the utilization, development, and conservation of restricted property for the benefit of the landowners. The direct service/assistance includes hazardous fuels reduction, noxious weed prevention, prescribed burns, fencing, boundary surveys, ponds, pond maintenance, critical road access maintenance, and property signage.

“A Place to Borrow Money” Lending Institution

Supported our very first lending institution that will provide financial education and loan programs. In the first phase, they are offering small loans and educating through financial literacy budgeting and credit classes.

Gaming Reform Act

This act was amended to address additional net revenue, true up, strengthen and offer definitions, board meeting requirements, and board member qualifications.

Permanent Fund

To provide and secure future financial stability for our nation, three bills were put forth to fund a total $7.5 million towards the Permanent Fund.

Platform

I will continue to support the 25-Year Strategic Plan, prioritize spending, address board challenges, rebuild communication among our people and within the government, strengthen internal controls and minimize risk, and always support Sovereign Related Issues.
