Kemper “Joe” Javine Obituary

Kemper Joe Javine, 87, of Barnsdall, Okla., passed away on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Bartlesville, Okla.

Kemper Joe Javine, 87, of Barnsdall, Okla., passed away on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Bartlesville, Okla. A memorial service was held on Dec. 13, 2024, at the Assembly of God Church in Barnsdall.

Joe Javine was born on January 1, 1937, in Barnsdall to Wilda Oliva (Lawman) Javine and
Owen Kemper Javine. He was raised in Barnsdall where he graduated high school in 1955.
Joe married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Karan Reynolds in December 1956. He
attended college in Tahlequah, Okla., and went on to become a Journeyman electrician. He
was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Throughout his career, Joe wired many buildings and structures around northeastern
Oklahoma and often pointed out various historical sites that he worked on, including the
iconic Golden Driller in Tulsa. Joe and Karan made their first home in Barnsdall and
welcomed their son, John Mark Javine in 1958. Later, they moved to Sperry, Okla., where they raised John and daughter Dee Anne Javine (Hughes) born in 1961. In his youth, Joe was an avid fastpitch softball player and served as catcher for a men’s fastpitch team as they traveled to countless games and tournaments. In retirement, Joe enjoyed fishing, working in his shop/garage, sharing his wisdom, and spending time with the love of his life, Karan, until her death in 2018. He loved Jesus and fellowship and was an active member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Barnsdall.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Karan Javine; son, John Javine; daughter, Dee Anne
Hughes; parents, Kemper and Wilda Javine; brother, Dale Javine; and son-in-law, Greg
Hughes.

Survivors include granddaughter, Shannon Crabbe (Chris) of Dewey, Okla.; granddaughter,
Starla Worsham (Nate) of Virginia Beach, Va.; Brandon Hughes (Tina) of Sapulpa, Okla.;
Jessica Mooney (Levi) of Glenpool, Okla.; Adam Hughes of Tulsa, Okla.; Sara Ward (Josh) of Sand Springs, Okla.; sister Elaine McPherson (Kenneth) of Barnsdall; Ronda Blake (Gary)
of Barnsdall; sister-in-law, Jane Javine of Barnsdall; brother/sister-in-law, Ed and Bev Reynolds of Centralia, Mo.; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
