Mobile mammogram clinic scheduled Dec. 4-5 at Wah-Zha-Zhi Health Center

Osage and Native American women over age 40 are invited to receive a free mammogram during a mobile clinic scheduled Dec. 4-5 at the Wah-Zha-Zhi Health Center in Pawhuska.

The two-day mammogram clinic is presented by the University of Oklahoma Medicine’s Breast Health Network Mobile Mammography Program and grant funded from Susan G. Komen Tulsa, which provides funding for education and outreach programs for breast health services.

According to a news release, patients eligible for the free mammograms are women over age 40 who reside in Osage County and have not had a mammogram in the past year. Priority for appointments will be given to those with no health insurance.

The mammograms are available by scheduling appointments with the OU Medicine Breast Health Network at 1-800-422-4626. Callers will be prompted to dial “8” and enter extention “49760” to schedule appointments during daytime business hours.

Patient transportation and childcare services can be provided to make the mammogram screenings possible. Patients in need of these assistance options should notify BHN staff while scheduling an appointment.

Following the mammogram screenings, the patients and their healthcare providers will receive their reports by mail within 10 business days. The WHC is located at 715 Grandview on the Osage Nation government campus and can be reached at (918) 287-9300.
