The Northern California Osage organization is hosting a cultural meeting featuring presenters from the Osage Nation on Aug. 12 in Petaluma.
According to NCO Treasurer Karen Elliott, the meeting agenda will include Osage Nation officials from Oklahoma who will discuss different aspects of Osage culture. This NCO gathering will be held at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
ON Museum Curator Hallie Winter is scheduled to present, as well as Wah-Zha-Zhi Cultural Center Director Addie Hudgins.
Also scheduled to present is Mary “Liz” Ricketts who sits on the Nation’s Traditional Cultural Advisors Board. Ricketts will provide a presentation on Osage women’s dance clothing.
During past NCO gatherings, Osage Nation elected and government officials have attended the event to discuss program service availability for out-of-state Osages and updates on the three-branch government.
