On January 21, 2020, the Osage Nation Family Violence Prevention Department will host a training on identifying and responding to stalking, and the use of technology to stalk. The event has been organized by Alexis Sutton, Prevention/Awareness Advocate for ONFVPD.
January 2020 marks the 16th annual National Stalking Awareness Month. Nationally, 7.5 million people are stalked every year. Approximately 1 in 6 women and 1 in 17 men have experienced stalking at some point in their lifetime, with the statistics for Native women being far worse than for the general public.
Jennifer Landhuis, Director of the Stalking Prevention, Awareness & Resource Center, will be presenting the CLEET accredited two-part training. Ms. Landhuis has diligently served and advocated for victims across the U.S. since 1996. She is a distinguished speaker, presenting nationally for over six years.
This training is free and open to all multi-disciplinary professionals who would like to understand better the dynamics of stalking and how it co-occurs with domestic violence. By attending this training, professionals will be able to apply strategies for working with victims of stalking and document relevant evidence to build stalking cases.
