A Live and Silent Art Auction to benefit the Osage Ballet, Wahzhazhe, will be held at the Osage Casino & Hotel in Skiatook on April 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The benefit auction, sponsored by the Osage Casino, will highlight artwork donated by a vast array of talented artists including many renowned Indigenous artists. Proceeds will enable the continued sharing of the story of the Osage people through the artistic medium of ballet in the tradition of the late Osage prima ballerina Maria Tallchief and her sister, Marjorie Tallchief, according to an Osage Ballet press release.
The auction will feature artists such as Dante Biss-Grayson, Rock Pipestem, Jessica Moore Harjo, John Free, Kugee Supernaw, Alexandra Ponca, and Wahzhazhe Ballet costume designer, Wendy Ponca, to name a few.
Since 2012, the Osage Ballet, organized as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, has performed the ballet at prestigious venues including the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, The Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of the American Indian, the International Festival of Families in Philadelphia during Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S., the Coleman Theater in Miami, Okla., and the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe, N.M.
This year the Osage Ballet will be performed at The Mansion Theatre in Branson, Mo, on Aug. 5-6.
