The Fourth Osage Nation Congress adjourned its 10th special session on Day Seven after considering all legislative matters on the proclamation including one additional issue introduced on the final day.
On Jan. 27, the Congress voted unanimously to amend the special session proclamation for consideration of an additional resolution, which was filed Jan. 26 by Congressman James Norris.
The resolution (ONCR 16-11) is to authorize a limited waiver of sovereign immunity from suit and consent to jurisdiction as part of a pharmaceutical services agreement with PBA Health. Per the resolution, the Nation’s Wah-Zha-Zhi Health Center will receive pharmaceutical distribution services from PBA Health pending an approved contract with the Kansas City company.
During the session, the Congressional Health and Social Services Committee met to consider ONCR 16-11 before it was passed onto the Congress for a floor vote. After committee discussion the Congress passed the resolution with a 10-0 vote and two absences that day from Congress members Shannon Edwards and Ron Shaw.
On Jan. 28, the Congressional office reported that Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear signed remaining special session bills and resolutions passed by Congress during the special session that started on Jan. 20.
The next meeting of Congress is the 24-day spring Hun-Kah Session starting on March 28 or if another special session proclamation is issued by either the Congress or Principal Chief before that date.
