Nineteen Osage artists have been selected by the Osage Nation Foundation for its “Voices From the Drum: An Osage Collection” project.
The 19 artists will be using a traditional drum as a canvas to demonstrate what the drum means to the Osage people, their culture, and their history. The drums were handcrafted by drum maker Rock Pipestem and provided to the artists. Once the artists begin to design their drum, their artistic process will be documented by video and included in a permanent traveling exhibit which is expected to be completed by December 2018.
