Steven Lyle Moore Obituary

Steven Lyle Moore of rural Quapaw, Okla., passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was 70 years old.

Steven Lyle Moore of rural Quapaw, Okla., passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was 70 years old.

Steven was born Jan. 26, 1954, in Fort Smith, Ark., to James D. and Ardina (Revard) Moore. He had lived in the Quapaw and Miami area for the past 9 years after moving from Broken Arrow, Okla.  

Steve graduated from Powell County High School, Deer Lodge, Mont. He received his Doctor’s Degree of Pharmacy from Oklahoma University and his Aerospace Engineering degree from Oklahoma University. He worked as an Aerospace engineer at Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX. He was a pharmacist for many years, working in the Tulsa area for Parkside Hospital and Grand Lake Mental Health in Miami. Steve was a member of Kappa Psi fraternity and a proud Rufnek at OU.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Buckner Moore, and one sister, Suzy Moore.

Survivors include his companion and sweetheart, Dixie Ramm of the home, two sons: Chad Moore and Chase Moore of Milton, Ga., one sister, Martha Moore Barker (Terry) of Tulsa, and one brother, James R. Moore (Albina) of University Place, Wash. He had many wonderful family members and friends. 

Steven was the grandson of James O. Revard, and great-grandson of Charles E. Revard.

Native American rites were conducted by Joey Giveswater at the Quapaw Nation Community Building, Wednesday, Feb. 7. A special Fadada was performed by members of the OU Rufneks. Burial was in the Griffin Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Etherton, Kevin Kemp, Randal Smith, Wes Bledsoe, Lewis Carabajal, and Ron Veit.
