Thomas George Hunt Obituary

Pawhuska resident Thomas George Hunt, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Okla.

The third child of Robert MacAfee Hunt Jr., and Marche Adeline (Newman) Hunt, he was born October 9, 1936 in the Ponca City Memorial Hospital. Tom attended Foraker Public Schools in Foraker, Okla., from grades 1 – 12. He spent several years in pipeline and heavy equipment work, as well as working with his parents on their ranch. He was a devoted caregiver for his parents in their later lives. Tom was active in the Pawhuska Elks Lodge and a member of the Osage Nation. He is the great-great-great grandson of Chief Pawhuska.

He is survived by a brother, William M. Hunt and sister Mary Ann Gillaspy; sisters-in-law Loyce A. Hunt and Lois Ann Hunt; four nephews and seven nieces. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, RM Hunt Jr., and MA Newman Hunt and brother, Franklin DelOrier Hunt.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 27, at the Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home in Pawhuska, Okla.  William M. Hunt officiated.
