As a life long resident of Osage county, I- Hank Hainzinger, have been honored by the number of people who have encouraged me to run for Osage Nation Congress. It was in part because of their confidence and the support of my family that I now have the distinct privilege of being a candidate for Osage Nation Congress in 2012. As you read on you will learn more about me and understand why I felt the need to run for Congress.
I attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelors degree in Ag Business. After graduation I worked alongside my Grandfather (Walt Colby) on his ranch in Osage County. For the past 25 years I have partnered with my father in the family business of oilfield construction. Upon the death of my Grandfather in 1991, I took over the family ranching operation. I am the 4thgeneration to make a living from our land, and that makes me proud. I am even more proud, however, that the land where I raise cattle and wheat today includes the original allotment of land from my Great Grandmother Ora (Dennison) Colby. The realization that over one hundred years ago, our Osage ancestors had the forethought to make decisions that continue to benefit us today is absolutely remarkable. THIS is the main reason I decided to run for Osage Nation Congress. I am ready to be part of the decision making process that will benefit future generations of Osage people. I won’t be the first in my family to serve. My uncle Joe Colby served on the council in the 1970’s and my great uncle Sylvester Tinker was chief from 1970 to 1982. The fact that I have never worked for the tribe and I have no family members who work for the tribe sets me apart from many other candidates and assures that I will enter this job with fresh ideas and an open mind.
I am fortunate to have a supportive and devoted family. My parents are Henry and Ora Lee (Colby) Hainzinger. My wife, Sara, of 16 years is a Licensed Professional counselor in Osage county, as well as being a busy mother to our 3 children. Our family is involved in Church, school, sports, rodeo, and 4-H activities. I was elected President of the 2012 Jr. Livestock show in Osage county. I have also been elected to the Board of Directors for the 101 Ranch Rodeo in Ponca City, OK for the past 18 years. I am a member of the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association and a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Want to know more about me? Ask your friends and neighbors. You will hear that I am a good natured family man, with integrity and common sense. I have the ability to work hard and get along with absolutely anyone. I am anxious to serve ALL the Osage people. I look forward to building on some of the good decisions that have been made by Congress, and I am confident that we will be able to work through the current challenges. Thank You to my friends and family for encouraging me to “throw my hat in the ring.”
