The Northern California Osage is hosting its 2024 Spring Gathering on Saturday, May 4 in Woodland, Calif., which includes an Osage Nation Congressional candidate forum.
According to the NCO event notice, the day-long event starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Woodland, which is nearly 15 minutes from the Sacramento metro area. Lunch will be served and the candidate forum will take place in both the morning and afternoon at the event.
There will also be a “Returning Home” presentation and a Minerals Council update.
The NCO is inviting Osages who are running for Osage Nation Congressional office in the June 3 General Election to participate in the question and answer forum. Six of 12 Congressional seats are opening in this year’s election and a total of 16 certified candidates are running for office.
The NCO Steering Committee will develop the forum’s format and is accepting questions for the candidates who will attend and participate. The NCO notes “that the committee will make every attempt to include as many submitted questions as possible, but may not get to all day of (forum).” The online question submission form can be used for voters to submit as many questions as they wish.
Also, the NCO is reminding voters that April 19 is the deadline to request an absentee ballot for Osages planning to vote by mail. Absentee ballots and election information is available on the Wahzhazhe Elections website at: https://www.osagenation-nsn.gov/services/elections
