Diana Carol “Toody” Smith Obituary

A Memorial Service is planned for June 25, 2022, in Pawhuska at the Kendrick McCartney funeral home. Another service will be held in her birthplace of San Diego.

Diana Carol “Toody” Smith, age 58, was called home to the Lord on May 3, 2022. She died peacefully at home, after a short battle with Stage IV breast cancer.  

Diana was born November 13, 1963, in San Diego, California, to John C. Smith Jr. and Patsy N. Smith (Murphy). She is the third of three daughters. Diana lived nearly her entire life in San Diego. In 2020, she and her sister moved to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. 

Toody was proud of her Osage, Otoe-Missouria and Cherokee heritage and loved living in Pawhuska and was looking forward to Inlonshka this year. She is granddaughter to John Claude Smith (Osage) and Dolly Roubedeaux (Otoe-Missouria). She is the great-granddaughter of Amanda Murphy (Cherokee). She is the great-granddaughter of Edward Roubedeaux (Otoe-Missouria) and Lena Daily Roubedeaux (Otoe-Missouria). 

She enjoyed art and music and was a talented painter. Creating many beautiful items for her family through the years. She loved animals and doted on her Bengal cat, Lily. She also enjoyed cooking and had many specialties. Toody was a friend to everyone and always met people everywhere she went. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Smith, and father John Claude Smith. She is survived by her only daughter, Angela Reily of Oakland, Calif. She is also survived by her sisters, Candy Borges and Kathy Jones of San Diego, and her baby sister Patricia Smith of Pawhuska. As well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
