Mose Henry Tallchief of Wichita, Kans., was healed and made whole on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, after 94 years on Earth making people smile with his long-winded stories. He had been a resident of Azira Nursing Home for the past year.

Mose was the son of Henry Tallchief (Full Blood Osage) and Ethel Tallchief born on Sept. 6, 1928, in Oklahoma City. He was a proud member of the Osage Nation and lived much of his life in the Wichita area but always came home to his Grayhorse community. His paternal grandparents were Tseh Eansa Skah (White Buffalo Face) and Wah Shah Hah Me.

Growing up he attended and graduated school from Ponca City High School before entering college at Oklahoma A & M (OSU) for a year then going on to attend University of Oklahoma (OU). He drove a truck for many years culminating with owning TC Transportation with his son Barry.

Mose was a member of the Wichita Shrine, being a 32-degree Mason, he was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple and York Rite Temple.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including an excellent Indian Taco, Osage meatpie, and caramel corn. In his spare time, he would occasionally go to the casino to gamble. In his younger days he was an avid bowler.

He joins in heaven his wife, Dorothy Mae (Morrison) Tallchief; parents, Henry and Ethel; and son, Barry Allan Tallchief. Mose is survived by his caregiver, Mary Smith and her husband Paul of Wichita; numerous cousins and two grand dogs, Jack & Harley.

Mose will be at the Grayhorse Chapel beginning at noon Sunday, July 23 until his Graveside Service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Fairfax City Cemetery, 600 S. 8th Street, under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be KC Bills, Nick Williams, Bobby Tallchief, Tim Russell Tallchief, Talons Goode, and Tonkah Goode. Honorary pallbearer is George Neff.

The family would like to thank the staff at Azria Health and Gentiva Hospice for the loving extended care they gave to Mose. Also, we want to thank Andrea Tallchief for her support over the last few years.
