Robert Edward “Reb” Baker of Pawhuska, Okla., passed away on Feb. 8, 2023, after suffering a fatal injury due to seizures.
He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in horticulture and education. He was a middle school teacher in Lubbock, TX, as well as a Lubbock Firefighter. Reb was named into the Eagle Clan. He loved his Osage heritage and participating in the Osage Inlonshka dances, handgames and the cooks laughing at him for cooking over the fire in flip-flops. It was his joy and great thankfulness to have been able to live in the Pawhuska Indian Village these last four years. Reb celebrated everything beautiful God has made and captured it in his photography, writing and gardening.
Reb is survived by his children, Zechariah, Raelie and Claire, his parents Willard and Anne Tinker Baker, Jr., his puppy, Oofdah, his sister Heather Card (Jonathan), and their four children Ellis Anne, Seeley Grace, William, and George Baker. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Carol Tinker and his son, Caleb.
An Osage service will be held at the Osage Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at 10 a.m. The burial will be at the Pawhuska Cemetery. Rebs’ Dinner will follow at the Osage Civic Center.
